Teaching has always been a fruitful part of my life.  Throughout college I knew that I would eventually want to teach, but I wanted to make sure I had life experience.  I took time off in my twenties to travel and play music while supporting myself on seasonal work (mainly in farming and construction).   Starting    as a teenager, and on through my late 20's, I taught guitar as a private instructor.  Later on in life I found myself teaching children about the process and importance of farming.

Through my vast work experiences, I was always    fascinated by the different people I worked with.  I often contemplated how education affected people's livelihood, opinions, and paradigms.  This led me to rediscover the true value of education,  how important it is to actively participate in shaping our future, and    how fulfilling it would be to pursue teaching as a career.

Now partway through the MAT program at Pacific University, I have found myself becoming fascinated with the origins of education as well as the great strides in the research.    I have also found the experience of student teaching  enlightening and inspiring.  I    feel immense gratitude for my mentor teachers at Neil Armstrong Middle School and the Early Learning Community       who have helped me and guided    me through this tremendous learning process.

When I am not at one of my schools, I  am likely trying to find time to spend with my partner, Tahnee, and our two pups, Preacher and Dexter.  I believe in exercising the body as well as the mind, so in my free time I try to surf at the coast or keep up with my distance running.  And on those rainy days, I might stay at home and read or continue my exploration of the guitar.

My mantra: try to live   life with gratitude, patience,  integrity, and respect, while having fun learning and exploring.
